Before working with VisionSpring, C. Sangeetha was an Asha, or health worker. She was extremely gratified by the service she was able to do for her community, but was paid only about 1,000 rupees a month (around $25 USD). Her husband Veeresh made even less.
Then, about a year ago, Sangeetha and Veeresh became Vision Entrepreneurs.
Today, their income has increased to 6,000 or 7,000 rupees a month (between $130-150 USD) With their extra earnings the couple has made huge changes in their lives. They have a new house, a new motor bike, and they now support their two children to attend a high-quality boarding school. Before working with VisionSpring, as Sangeetha put it, she had hopes - now she can make them happen.
Sitting together in the modern home that their new employment made possible, the couple says working with VisionSpring makes them feel honorable and proud. Sangeetha's voice becomes loud and passionate when she talks about the way she has been able to affect the people around her. Her message to anyone asking about her experience at Visionspring is direct and empowering: "Do service and get a better future."
